FIRST AID TRAINING (ex Ministerial Decree 388/03).

First aid training is an essential element in ensuring the safety and well-being of workers within any work environment. The first aid course, regulated by Ministerial Decree 388/03, aims to provide participants with the necessary skills to intervene effectively and efficiently in the event of medical emergencies in the workplace.

The training in first aid covers several key topics, including:

  1. Principles of first aid: participants should gain a solid knowledge of the basic principles of first aid, understanding the importance of acting quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  2. Scene and patient assessment: training should include techniques to quickly assess the scene of an emergency and determine the severity of the patient’s condition to provide the most appropriate rescue.
  3. Resuscitation techniques: participants are expected to learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures and the use of the semiautomatic external defibrillator (AED), fundamental tools for intervening in cardiac arrest.
  4. Management of common emergencies: first aid training should cover the management of the most common workplace emergencies, such as wounds, fractures, burns, poisonings and respiratory problems.
  5. Transport and immobilization: trainees must learn techniques for transporting and immobilizing patients in case of injury to prevent further injury and ensure safety during transfer.
  6. Communication with emergency services: it is important that participants are trained on how to communicate effectively with emergency services, providing detailed and accurate information about the patient’s situation and condition.

First aid training is required by law and must be provided by accredited institutions, with periodic skill updates according to regulatory requirements. Proper training in first aid contributes to a safe and efficient work environment in which workers are prepared to deal with any emergency situations and provide timely and appropriate assistance.
